I have to admit I'm not the best on treating my cameras & equipment with the best of love. Memory cards can be the holders of some pretty important pictures and there are a few tips to keep them from deciding to die on you!
-
Remove your cards from the card reader after your done downloading pictures.
-
Make sure when you remove them the window is closed on the computer and if there is a light that blinks on your reader, make sure that's stops first.
-
Turn the camera off when removing and inserting the card.
-
Don't handle the card at the contact area and keep from getting dirt/sweat/just plain grim in the contact area.
-
Format your cards regularly. If you don't know how...look in your manual for instructions.
-
Think of your card like your camera, it has sensitive parts as well. Extreme heat/cold, moisture and abuse will only shorten the life span.
